The Path of a woman
This is my original painting series dedicated to women in fairytales. Women in most tales have secondary roles, a wife is a prize for the hero who passed the challenge. Nevertheless there are tales with wonderful main heroines. And these are the characters I chose to depict in this series along with the ones who didn't have the main role and their own story but who deserve it in my opinion. 
The Moon is usually associated with female nature and female nature is stereotypically perceived as soft, pleasant, caring. But these are not the only female qualities and in this Moon of mine I wanted to express a different side to femininity: inner strength, clear vision, persistence, confidence. Her third eye is open, she sees more and knows what she wants.

Vasilisa is going into the Dark Forest to the old forest witch. It is a challenge for her and of course she is scared but also excited as this is the beginning of a new life for her filled with wonders, adventures, magic and, yes, a bit of danger. But it feels like freedom.

In a fairytale selkie has to marry a fisherman because he stole her sealskin. He promised to give it back in 7 years but broke his promise. Sometimes women are robbed of very important parts of themselves and their lives and without them they start to wither. But it is never too late to return what’s rightfully yours and to bring back your true energy. Selkie reminds about this and also warns to be careful - don’t give away your life!
